Best treats for a healthy Halloween

Halloween is usually the time of year when people begin falling off the healthy eating wagon and start consuming an abundance of sugary treats. Falling into the trap of overeating leftover Halloween candy leads into Thanksgiving goodies, and before you know it’s holiday party after holiday party that’s setting you back. So if lack of trick-or-treaters leaves you with piles of candy still sitting at your house, here are a few things you can do with it that won’t leave you moving up a pant size:

*Give it away. If the sight of it in your house is too tempting, then find someone to give it to. Friends, neighbors, co-workers, homeless shelters, church functions, etc are all places to send you goodies.
* Bake with it. So maybe no one wants your leftover loot because they are drowning in their own piles of sugary goods. Try baking with it then! Bite sized candy bars can be placed in brownies, cookies, and cupcakes for a special treat with a surprise center. Bake up some goodies and share with friends!

Ok, now that we have dealt with the leftovers, let’s talk about what the best options are for sneaking a few pieces from your child’s trick-or-treat bag. These candies will satisfy your sweet cravings without setting you back too much.
