Today’s recipe is one that I get very excited to make every year. I mean, the person that thought of taking the childhood favorite candy cane and mixing it with chocolate is genius. A little bit of sweet, a little bit of crunch, a little bit of heaven 🙂
Trehops Peppermint Bark
11 oz vegan chocolate chips
11 oz white chocolate chips
6 large peppermint candy canes, crushed
This recipe couldn’t be easier.
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Melt chocolate chips until creamy. Spread chocolate onto the baking sheet in a thin layer. It’s ok if it doesn’t spread over the entire pan. Try to make a sort of rectangular shape on the pan with the chocolate anyway. Put in freezer for 15 minutes.
2. Melt the white chocolate chips until creamy. Pour in the crushed candy cane and stir until well combined. Remove the chocolate base from the freezer and spread the white chocolate/candy mixture over top. Try to spread as quickly as you can or the bottom chocolate may begin to melt and combine with the white. Once finished, pop the baking sheet back in the freezer for 30 minutes.
3. Remove from freezer and break the peppermint bark into the size you wish. I like to just break up and have varying sizes and shapes of the bark.
This peppermint bark works great as holiday gifts (if it lasts that long). Pair with a cup of coffee after a holiday dinner or a cup of hot cocoa while you watch a Christmas classic. Any way you enjoy it, peppermint bark is one of my favorites of the holidays.
