Yesterday during my falafel post I mentioned that I used the Bagel Thins. Has anyone else tried these? I have been hearing about them for a while, but finally decided to buy a pack last week. They sounded pretty good. A bagel with only 110 calories? That’s unheard of! (Unless you buy the mini bagels) Also, after checking out the nutrition facts I deemed them acceptable. The whole wheat Bagel Thins have 110 calories, 5 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein per bagel. Plus the first ingredient on the list was whole wheat flour so they seemed on the healthier side. However, I have to say, I was very disappointed. You might as well just eat a whole wheat bun or bread because there really isn’t any difference in taste. When I think of a bagel I think of a dense, chewy texture with a soft interior and a more crisp exterior. So, with a name like Bagel Thins, naturally I was expecting a bagel. Instead I found a very soft, thin bun. If you are looking for a bagel, but looking to cut calories, don’t turn to these. They will make you want to go back to the store and just buy a package of bagels. However, if you are just looking for a slightly different sandwich partner, then maybe give them a try. Just don’t expect to eat a bagel or you will be let down.

not a bagel 😦

They do live up to their "thin" name

On a more positive note, I have had a few weeks now to try out my Keurig and I love it! If you have been debating on buying one of these, I would highly recommend it. However, with its purchase, I am now turning back into a coffee drinker. Although, it can make so many varieties of teas, hot chocolate, cappuccinos, and coffees. The options almost seem endless with this hot beverage maker. I have been very pleased with this gift (thanks Chris!) and have been rotating between the coffees and teas every day to find my favorites. If you do have a Keurig or are thinking of getting one, I would recommend searching around online for the k-cups. They are generally pretty pricey in the stores, but you can sometimes find deals on them online through various sites.

Look at that beauty 😉
